چکیده

The area of Huelva, in the South of Spain, is a well-known case of human pressure on the natural environment. In Huelva, National Parks, like Doñana, and industrial and tourist zones coexist in difficult balance. The Regional Ministry of Andalusia is commissioned to assure the preservation of the natural resources in this part of Spain although its cost can be high in time and money. Remote sensing is a very suitable tool to carry out this task and automatic land use and cover detection can be a key factor to reduce costs. In addition, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) has the advantage of being able to create elevation surfaces that are in 3D, while also having information on LIDAR intensity values. Many measures based on its intensity, density and its capacity for describing third dimension have been used previously with other purposes and outstanding results. In this paper, a new approach to identify land cover at high resolution is proposed selecting the most interesting attributes from a set of LIDAR measures. Our approach is based on data mining principles to take advantage on intelligent techniques (attribute selection and C4.5 algorithm decision tree) to classify quickly and efficiently without the need for manipulating multiespectral images. Seven types of land cover have been classified in a very interesting zone at the mouth of the River Tinto and Odiel with results of accuracy between 71% and 100%. An overall accuracy of 85% has been reached for a resolution of 4 m.

Urban Vegetation Recognition Based on the Decision Level Fusion of Hyperspectral and Lidar Data

Introduction: Information about vegetation cover and their health has always been interesting to ecologists due to its importance in terms of habitat, energy production and other important characteristics of plants on the earth planet. Nowadays, developments in remote sensing technologies caused more remotely sensed data accessible to researchers. The combination of these data improves the obje...

Conditional Random Fields for Airborne Lidar Point Cloud Classification in Urban Area

Over the past decades, urban growth has been known as a worldwide phenomenon that includes widening process and expanding pattern. While the cities are changing rapidly, their quantitative analysis as well as decision making in urban planning can benefit from two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) digital models. The recent developments in imaging and non-imaging sensor technologies, s...

Object-Based Land Cover Classification Using High-Posting-Density LiDAR Data

This study introduces a method for object-based land cover classification based solely on the analysis of LiDAR-derived information—i.e., without the use of conventional optical imagery such as aerial photography or multispectral imagery. The method focuses on the relative information content from height, intensity, and shape of features found in the scene. Eight object-based metrics were used ...

بررسی تأثیر سناریوهای تغییر کاربری اراضی بر روی مولفه‌های بیلان آبی با استفاده از مدل WetSpa (مطالعه موردی: حوزه آبخیز زیارت استان گلستان)

Every year, due to population growth and economy development, land uses and land covers are changing. The various types of land uses have significant roles on components of water balance of a watershed. The simulation modeling has the capability to predict floods, to evaluate land use impacts on floods, and to make decision in watershed management. In this research, the effects of land use chan...

LULC database updating from VHR images and LIDAR data using evidence theory

Urban growth and the development of urban plans make cities grow and substantially alter, in relatively short time periods, their land covers and land uses (LULC). To take control of this urban growth, it is important to create and update the LULC database. In this work, a method to automatically extract land covers from satellite VHR imagery and LIDAR data is presented. This method is based on...
